Late March at Curiosity Farm

It’s March 26, 2022, and I thought I would have a plan in place for you to come pick your own flowers by now. Instead, the weather fluctuations have kept me guessing about what is next and how many flowers I will have available. The ranunculus have just started to bloom (hurray!), but we are due to have freezing temperatures this weekend. We will cover them all, but it will be Monday before I can see what the damage has been. In most years, we would have buckets of ranunculus available for weeks by now.
Fortunately, we do have lots of flowers available! The anemones keep blooming (though they are not as reliably tall as I would prefer) and the double and single white tulips and the yellow-orange double keep pumping out flowers. I’m getting excited about some tulips that are new to me–white parrot tulips, a double pink called Renown Unique, and a really unusual sunset-colored fringed double. I’ll post pictures as they bloom.
I feel like a bore always talking about weather, but it has a very direct effect on what flowers I can offer at any time. I’ll keep you updated about when signups are available to come pick your own flowers. Those of you who are on my email list will get the first opportunity to sign up, as always.
