Well, it happened–the big freeze.   The flowers are finished blooming, other than a few stalwart snapdragons that keep going against all odds.  Not nearly enough to share, I regret to say.  I expected to have mums from another local flower farmer to make up Thanksgiving bouquets, but the plants aren’t doing well.  I’m sorry I won’t be able to provide flowers for your celebrations, but I hope they will be very joyful.  It is a wonderful thing to be able to gather and give thanks.   We are still very busy at the farm planting bulbs and plants that can grow through the winter and bloom abundantly in spring!  This year, I’m particularly thankful for Beth!  She has planted almost 6,000 tulips so far, as well as many seedlings and other bulbs.  And this is only a small part of what she does on the farm.  I truly could not keep things going without her skillful work and dedication!

Amaryllis bulbs are ready to go!

Huge amaryllis bulbs are potted up and ready at Nothing New!  These will send up 3-4 stalks covered with massive flowers, blooming for weeks during the holiday season.  I have selected a large number of varieties with colors including traditional red and white of course, but also pinks, streaky reds, dark reds, and more!  These are available in paper wrapped pots with instructions, or potted in vintage containers or a beautiful winter themed pot.  You can order them on my website, or just swing by Nothing New to pick one out there!
We will have paperwhites available the day after Thanksgiving, including ones planted in in vintage planters.

Something fun to check out Saturday, November 29 is the Downtown Concord Holiday Trail!  They’ll have trolleys running between downtown Concord, Southern Strain Brewing (Nothing New is in the same building, so come see out my space!), and Cabarrus Brewing at Gibson Mill from 11 AM – 4 PM.  This is a relaxing way to check out what downtown Concord has to offer–a lot, I’d say.

Come see us Saturday, December 6!

We’ll be open at the farm from noon – 3 PM with lush, handmade wreaths, paperwhites and amaryllis,  table arrangements, and more!
You are welcome to bring a treasured container and pot up some paperwhites or amaryllis bulbs–I’ll have the bulbs ready as well as soil and preserved moss so that you can make it look just the way you like!  There will also be potted amaryllis ready to grab and go.
I hope I will see a lot of you–if only for a minute–to wish you Merry Christmas!
Here’s the Facebook event for you to check out the details and let me know if you might swing by.

For those of you who have read this far, thank you.

This is probably the longest email I’ve written, but there’s a lot to share these days!  I know you are terribly busy as well, and having  you follow along with my farm news is a blessing I don’t take for granted.  I am thankful in this season for the blessing of my community.  Thanks for being a part of it.
Always stay curious!
